NFL Player Faces Felony Weapons and Misdemeanor DUI Charges

Posted on Monday, October 21st, 2013 at 2:04 pm

A current linebacker on the 49ers roster has found himself in trouble with the law. Aldon Smith is facing three felony weapons assault charges along with one count of misdemeanor  DUI. Smith’s weapons charges have ties back to Arizona where the illegal weapons were brought according to documentation.

The weapons assault charges stem from a party hosted by Smith at a home he was renting near San Jose. During the party in June 2012, a fight broke out between rival gang members. After a handgun was fired by a guest, Smith fired his own weapon, several other shots followed. One person was shot, and two other were injured, Smith himself was stabbed during the incident.

Smith’s felony weapons assault charges resulting from the incident come  just two weeks after he was arrested for DUI. He is facing anywhere from probation to over four years in prison. Read more on this story here.
